Snow terrain material

The snow glittering is kinda getting destroyed by the video compression but you can still notice it near the horizon.

For my next project, I wanted to research how make a proper looking snow terrain material without relying on too many layers.

Snow glitters react to the direction of the sun. It's actually quite hard to do right because the Temporal AA filters out quite a bunch of fine-grained details. The standard terrain height blending in Unreal didn't give me the results I wanted so I created my own setup which gives a lot better results. The different layers blend differently in relation to each other. (eg. snow on snow or snow on ground blend differently). Dirty smelting snow automatically appears between snow and ground.
I used Megascans because I didn't want to focus on creating textures, just the material and general art direction.

If you have any questions, just drop me a dm. I will probably do a blogpost of this later.
